Connect an assistant to Workspace Studio

Design the details

Ask for changes to individual text, controls, tabs, fields, table columns, panels and illustrations throughout the workspace, including details inside a specific record or tab. For example: “Make Company Overview blue,” “Make Review contract facts a circular button,” “Swap Recent invoices and Cash flow,” or “Replace this workflow’s illustration with a hammer.” Your assistant can use exact colours, separate light and dark colours, type styles, spacing, borders, shadows and responsive settings.

These are examples of the available detail, rather than a fixed set of designs. You can reorder layout groups, design original vector illustrations, arrange dashboard panels independently and create workspace sections with your own headings, notes and approved record panels. Changes stay in version history. Review an update in Workspace Studio, compare it with the default and apply it when you’re ready.

You can also swap or move any available menu link, arrange links into named groups, change labels and icons, and style each group or link. Desktop and the mobile menu share your arrangement. Menu items remain available until their feature is turned off in Settings; visual edits do not remove access to enabled features.

Button actions, record permissions, calculations, required warnings and confirmation steps keep their existing behaviour. Authentication and security settings are outside the customization surface.

Add a separate connection

1. Enable connections in Workspace Studio → Connections. A company owner or administrator manages this switch.
2. In your assistant, add a new custom MCP server or plugin named Tiercord Workspace Studio. Keep the existing records plugin’s configuration as it is.
3. Use this server URL and choose OAuth authentication:https://tiercord.ca/api/studio/mcp
4. Sign in to Tiercord and approve this new connection for the intended company and design target.

Pasting the URL into a conversation helps identify the integration; it does not add Studio tools to an existing records plugin. The new connection needs its own approval.

For ChatGPT or Codex plugins, use Add custom MCP server to create a separate plugin. In supported desktop clients, use Settings → MCP servers → Add server. Availability depends on your client and account.

Two independent connections

Tiercord Workspace Studio

Workspace customization. Uses /api/studio/mcp and design permissions only. It cannot read business records or activate a design without your review. Manage it in Workspace Studio.

Tiercord Records

Read-only questions about permitted projects, invoices, payments and other records. Uses /api/mcp. It cannot customize the workspace. Manage it in Settings → Integrations → AI assistants.

Each has separate permissions, credentials, company switches and disconnect controls. Connecting, disabling or disconnecting one does not grant access to or disconnect the other. Both still follow the account’s membership and sign-in requirements.

Make the workspace your own

Ask your assistant to create a personal colour palette, refine an individual button, draw an original icon, or compose a different layout. Optional views inside a page, such as Timeline in Workspace Graph, can be removed or rearranged. Your palette belongs to your saved design; it does not become a new Tiercord default.

Records, calculations, permissions and legal procedures keep their existing behaviour. Required warnings and review controls remain available. Main-menu destinations stay in the menu while their features are enabled; feature settings control availability.

The assistant can start with studio_capabilities, then request its schema, styles, views or navigation section for precise options. studio_list_elements identifies the individual parts of the interface it can address.

Check the connection

Studio provides tools such as studio_capabilities, studio_list_elements, studio_style_element and studio_save_draft. If your assistant only sees record searches or invoice and project tools, it is using the records plugin. Select the separate Workspace Studio connection.

Ask the assistant for a change, then review its proposal in Workspace Studio → Versions. Apply the update there, or restore an earlier version.
