Prompt payment

Prompt payment is a statutory framework that makes construction payments flow down the chain on fixed deadlines, replacing open-ended pay-when-paid practice.

Under prompt-payment law, an owner must pay a proper invoice within a set number of days or deliver a notice of non-payment, and payment then cascades to subcontractors on shorter clocks. The framework is paired with rapid adjudication so disputes do not stop the flow of money.
